Borussia Dortmund defender Manuel Akanji has been ‘offered’ to Arsenal as the German side try to move him on this summer.

That’s according to Gazzetta Dello Sport, who say the centre-back remains an option for the Gunners to explore.

The Switzerland star has long been linked with a move to Arsenal, and those links have emerged again this year.

That’s because Borussia Dortmund are determined to move him on, and Gazzetta back that up today.

They say that the German side have already told the defender they will no longer be using him in this summer’s pre-season friendlies, something that is a sign of a ‘blatant breakup’ between the two parties.

The defender has already been ‘offered’ to clubs in England, including Arsenal, who have been linked with him since 2020.

Dortmund are asking for €20-25m ‘to free him’ but it’s unclear if any of the interested parties would be willing to pay that price, particularly as Akanji’s contract expires next summer.

At the moment, they appear to have just been offered the defender and whether they or anyone else makes a move remains to be seen.
