After relegation from the Premier League last season, Fulham need something of a rebuild under Scott Parker this summer.
Chief among his priorities will be getting some of the expensive flops from last year off the wage bill before he can then focus on improving the squad.
Solving the club’s defensive issues will be towards the top of his list, with the Cottagers not exactly impressing in that area last season.
A new central defender is likely a desire and it seems he may have identified one in La Liga, with El Desmarque reporting Fulham’s interest in Levante centre back Chema.
The newspaper says that the 27-year-old, who primarily plays in the centre of defence but can also play at right-back has received an offer from Fulham and that it is ‘likely’ he will join them this summer.
That’s because his situation at the La Liga club is ‘complicated’ and it’s likely that he’ll be leaving this summer.
El Desmarque don’t suggest any kind of fee or whether Chema is interested in the move, they just state an offer has been made and he’s likely to move to Craven Cottage.
Given he’s only got a year left on his deal, though, and the fact Levante want to sell, it seems unlikely to be an expensive move or one that will take long to tie up.
