Chelsea fullback César Azpilicueta has denied he’s in negotiations to join Manchester United. In an interview with Spanish radio station Cadena Ser (via El Desmarque), the 26-year-old says he’s happy at Chelsea and wasn’t contacted regarding a move to their Premier League rivals.
Azpilicueta was directly asked if José Mourinho had called him. He replied: “No. Believe me or not”, despite admitting that he’s “heard something” about the Manchester United interest.
“It’s always a compliment that you are wanted, I’ve heard highly about Valverde, but I’m focused on the national team and Chelsea, I’ve been there for four years, I am very happy and I feel highly valued.”
El Desmarque take last week’s news from AS to say that Azpilicueta could be available for €15m as Antonio Conte wouldn’t count on him for the next season. The Spaniard’s contract at Stamford Bridge runs until 2019.
