ADO Den Haag defender Tom Beugelsdijk has spoken to the Dutch media with regards to the interest from Leeds United. Last week there were claims Leeds United were looking to sign the Dutchman before next week’s deadline.
Speaking to Omroepwest ahead of this weekend games in Holland, Beugelsdijk was asked about the interest from Leeds United in recent days. The 26-year-old said he was flattered the Championship side see him as a good defender, but at the moment he’s not thinking about a move.
The central defender revealed in advance he is likely to turn down a move to England, even though he doesn’t think they will come in with a bid.
“I say in advance no. They think I’m a good defender. Anyway, I do not know if they come up with a bid. As long as I do not know, it’s not interesting for me to think about it. Most important is the match against Heracles of course,” said the defender.
Leeds United sent scouts to Holland last weekend to watch ADO Den Haag take on Excelsior. It’s been reported Garry Monk is impressed with the Dutchman, and his physicality would make him suitable for English football.
Beugelsdijk is seen as something of a cult hero with the ADO Den Haag fans so it’s understandable he’s played down these Leeds United links.
