RC Lens defender Kevin Danso has admitted he would interested in a return to the Premier League and a move to Newcastle United should it be offered.
Danso is currently starring for the French side after moving there in a €5.5m deal from Augsburg in August 2021.
He initially started his career in Reading’s Youth setup before spending a year at MK Dons and them moving to Augsburg in 2014.
He spent three years with the German aide before spending a year on loan at Southampton between 2019/20 and then spent another loan spell with Dusseldorf the year after before eventually joining Lens on a permanent basis.
He’s been impressing in Ligue 1 since, so much so that the Premier League has reportedly started to take notice of him once again.
A report at the beginning of January stated that Newcastle were ‘actively’ looking at the centre-back as a potential addition to Eddie Howe’s side while another in the middle of the window added Fulham into the mix.
Neither side ended up signing him but the interest may be there come the summer and Kicker brought up the apparent interest from Newcastle in a recent interview.
“The Premier League is of course a very attractive league and if there were to be an opportunity to go back there at some point, that would of course be interesting,” he told the newspaper.
“But I’m not worrying about that now, I just have to see when the time comes to take the next step, where the overall package suits me best.
“No matter where that is. Currently this is here in Lens. I want to play as well as possible here, finish the season with Lens as high up the table as possible and then we’ll see.”
