Having decided to turn their attention to Ligue 1 for signings this summer, Newcastle United could end up with two in the next week.

That is, at least, what Italian journalist Rudy Galletti is reporting on Twitter, taking to the social media platform to reveal the latest information at his disposal.

He says that ‘sources close to Newcastle’ have told him ‘this week could be decisive for the final move for Hugo Ekitike and Sven Botman’.

An agreement between the Magpies and Stade de Reims has been in place for quite some time, but there was still the striker himself to convince.

As for the Dutch defender, it’s been reported that Newcastle’s offer is higher than Milan’s, and despite the centre-back preferring to head to Italy, he might never be given the choice by his club.

On Sunday, Corriere della Sera stated the Premier League club had ‘put on the table €10m more’ than their Serie A counterparts, which was clearly leading Lille to lean in the more favourable deal’s direction.

Now, it’s really up to the two players to decide whether or not a move further north than Lille and Reims is what they want going forward.
