Sporting have still not given up on signing Islam Slimani back from Leicester City, and this saga will apparently drag until the last second of the transfer window.
Newspaper Jornal de Notícias comes up with a story today saying the Lions are only getting the player if the Foxes can’t find another solution for him.
Leicester City are still hopeful they can sell Slimani permanently, but in case they don’t close a deal before August 9th, then they will loan him out to Sporting.
The striker wants the return to his old club, and would even take a pay cut just so the move can be done.
But there’s also an interesting detail in Jornal de Notícias’ story.
When speaking of the clubs who are interested in Slimani, one of them would be Fenerbahce, who despite big noise from the Turkish press, are unlikely to find a deal for the striker.
The other one is Everton. There’s been no official bid so far, but ‘a source close to the Toffees’ told the newspaper that this should be a decisive week for the process.
Maybe Leicester City are using supposed interest from Everton to pressure other clubs into parting with more money.
