Last week, Gianluca di Marzio reported on Celtic’s offer for Frosinone’s Farès Ghedjemis.
This came after it became apparent that Martin O’Neill needs midfield signings. Felix Horn Myhre and Silas Andersen have also been mentioned as targets but there was some confidence about a move for the Serie B versatile attacker.
Celtic’s offer had ‘shaken the mood’ of Frosinone fans, with the club also rushing to sign possible replacements.
There is now some bad news for the Hoops and it comes directly from Italy.
Gazzetta dello Sport reports O’Neill’s side won’t be signing the 23-year-old from Frosinone.
The pink daily mention Celtic’s €6m offer for the France-born attacker. They are confident about his stance about a late exit, as Ghedjemis has ‘thanked’ the Glasgow club, but turned them down.
This is because he wants to finish the season in Serie B, with Frosinone well in contention for promotion. They are second in the table, only one point away from the top spot. The midfielder wants to help them secure promotion and feels like the winter window isn’t the right time to depart.
Gazzetta also claim that the €6m bid was Celtic’s ‘final offer’. They will now have to focus on other targets.
The right-winger has played 23 times in all competitions for Frosinone this season. He has eight goals and two assists, impressing with his 1v1 ability.
