Celtic have identified Rapid Wien’s Isak Jansson as their main target to replace Nicolas Kühn. On Monday, Brendan Rodgers’ side made movements to try and bring the Swede to Celtic Park this summer.

This was reported by Kurier yesterday, and they also stated the winger has been pulled out of training in order to avoid injury.

Wednesday’s edition of Kurier backs that up and provides the latest on Celtic’s pursuit of the 23-year-old.

Rapid Wien manager Peter Stöger says he “wants to do what’s right now as a coach” with Jansson. The newspaper says this is to make sure the attacker isn’t involved in intense duels to avoid a risk of an injury, which could jeopardise his transfer.

It’s claimed two clubs, Celtic and Paris FC, are battling for his signature, for a fee of just under €10m. The Swede has attracted interest from several clubs, but the Scottish champions and the Ligue 1 newcomers are currently in a bidding war to sign him.

Jansson’s decision is awaited, but the report claims he has already stated his preferred choice internally.

Rapid Wien managing director Markus Katzer says the attacker’s future will be sorted out soon, taking his preference into account.

“Isak’s wish is important; a decision will be made soon,” he said.
