Wolverhampton Wanderers allowed Fábio Silva to join Anderlecht on loan in the summer and he’s done reasonably well, scoring 10 goals and registering four assists from 28 matches.
After Wolves appointed Julen Lopetegui as their manager on November 5th, reports in Belgium stated the striker could return to Molineux in the winter market.
It was also explained the Jupiler Pro League side would want clarity from Wolves over the 20-year-old’s loan deal.
Het Nieuwsblad had a detailed chat with the Portugal U21 international, during which he was asked about the recent claims of the Premier League side wanting him back in January.
“What can I say to that? If Wolves want me back, then I’ve done a great job. Then I’m happy because I convinced them. But at the same time, I want to bring Anderlecht back to the top. Anderlecht gave me joy in playing again after a difficult season in England. I can’t say anything for sure, because the decision is not in my hands,” he said.
La Dernière Heure had earlier reported that Wolves would have to compensate the Belgian side if they decide to cut short Silva’s temporary stay at Anderlecht.
Meanwhile, Lopetegui’s immediate task is to help his new club get out of the relegation zone. They are currently bottom of the table and trail 17th placed Everton by four points.
Silva is hopeful Wolves can avoid dropping to the second division even though his current focus is on Anderlecht.
“Everyone prefers the Premier League, but the end of the season is still five months away. My focus is currently completely on Anderlecht. I sometimes say to my teammates: Enjoy me. Just enjoy me. But that’s a joke. It’s just nice to notice that players like Refaelov also like to play with me. I want to give something back to this club,” he explained.
