Nottingham Forest have regularly been mentioned as a suitor for AS Roma’s Jan Ziolkowski. There are signs the transfer is now being pushed.
The Midlands club have tried to execute a move for the defender in the past few weeks. Talks between the clubs have been held to bridge a €5m gap, with Sport Witness covering the situation.
At one point, the move seemed to be quite advanced, then everything was paused.
Roma are now hoping that Nottingham Forest come forward for the centre-back again.
Roma likely desperate
Today’s Gazzetta dello Sport specifically look at outgoings from the Italian capital. Due to FFP reasons, they need to secure around €60m in revenue by June 30th. As a result, next week will be full of tension for the Giallorossi, who clearly want sales.
While talks are ongoing with Real Betis to sell Angelino and Artem Dovbyk, Ziolkowski can still be on the way out.
Nottingham Forest will know about Roma’s financial pressure and will use that to their advantage.
The newspaper make it clear that the English club’s previous offer was €15m. They haven’t gone beyond that, with Roma demanding €20m to sell him.
Management change has impacted scenario
Lina Souloukou previously worked at Roma and she was likely driving the deal for Ziolkowski. Now that she is set to leave Nottingham Forest, the communication may be more difficult.
Much of the talk around Ziolkowski is driven by their financial needs. A sale to England would be very lucrative for them, especially as the Poland international joined for less than €10m in 2025.
Roma collapsing and selling him for €15m would be no surprise.
