Manchester United are pushing ahead with a deal for Porto goalkeeper Diogo Costa that could be worth €75m.
That’s according to A Bola, who say the goalkeeper ‘will leave’ Porto this summer and ‘the deal is well underway’ to take him to Manchester United.
They report that United ‘seem to be leading the way’ in the race for the Portuguese international.
The belief in Portugal is that Costa is ‘on the verge’ of make a career leap to the Premier League and could be set to unite with international teammates Diogo Dalot and Bruno Fernandes.
According to A Bola’s information, the deal with Manchester United is ‘well underway’ but Chelsea and Newcastle have also expressed interest in the 23-year-old.
Porto chief Pinto da Costa and the rest of the club’s hierarchy have already made those interested parties aware that they will only let the player leave for the value of his release clause, which is €75m.
The deal is in the hands of super-agent Jorge Mendes, who represents the keeper, and he has various proposals for his client, who impressed in the Champions League this season.
The plan is for Porto to focus on the cup final and then, during the next week, ‘deal more decisively’ with the sale of big players such as Costa.
