João Cancelo fulfilled his dream of joining Barcelona after Manchester City allowed him to seal a loan move to the Camp Nou in the summer window.
The right-back has impressed for the La Liga side, and has managed two goals and an assist from eight games. He has opened the door to extending his stay at the Catalan club beyond this season.
Focusing on his performances, Sport say the Manchester City owned player has adapted quickly and established himself at Barca.
It’s claimed the 29-year-old has also covered an ‘important gap’ the Spanish giants had in their squad. Taking these factors into account, the Blaugrana want to retain him beyond his loan spell.
Cancelo has a deal until 2027 at the Etihad and the newspaper states Pep Guardiola’s side will only consider his sale after this season. It’s further explained that the treble winners will ask for more than €30m to part ways with him permanently.
Although Cancelo wants to continue, Sport say Barca’s negotiations with Manchester City sporting director Txiki Begiristain and other Citizens officials are ‘shaping up to be very complicated’.
