Nottingham Forest are in the picture to sign Sporting’s Marcus Edwards in the winter market.

On January 14th, Record reported Nuno Espírito Santo’s side are eyeing up a move for the 26-year-old.

Four days later, the same newspaper indicated the Lions are hoping for Nottingham Forest to sign the winger in this window.

A fresh report from A Bola covers the Portuguese club’s stance on the Nottingham Forest target and it’s encouraging for the Reds.

The former Tottenham Hotspur man made four appearances since September and hasn’t featured since the end of November due to claimed attitude issues. This has convinced Sporting to offload him in this window.

Sporting appointed Rui Borges as their new manager on Boxing Day and he left him out of his plans due to disciplinary reasons. Therefore, they want to get rid of the attacker as quickly as possible, and bring in replacement in the coming days.

A Bola state Sporting wanted to sell the player for €10m, which in itself is much less than they’ve previously wanted. They haven’t received any firm approaches for a permanent deal and are willing to let him leave on a loan deal with an option to buy.

With Nottingham Forest already showing interest in the Englishman, they have a chance to easily secure his services.
