On Monday, we covered claims from Italy that Chelsea are open to carrying out a deal with Juventus involving Romelu Lukaku and Dušan Vlahović. It was also stated there was a ‘sensational breakthrough’ in talks between the two clubs.
Calciomercato have backed that up and given an insight on how this option came up. Lukaku’s lawyer Sebastien Ledure doesn’t want to listen to any other club apart from the Serie A side, at least until the end of this week.
Chelsea are keen to get rid of the 30-year-old and are also in the market for a new striker. After they rejected Juve’s loan offer, Ledure tried to carry out a swap deal involving the 23-year-old Serbian.
Calciomercato state the Old Lady continue to ask Chelsea for €30m, plus €15m bonuses, and Lukaku in exchange for the former Fiorentina man. They add the ‘negotiation is about to enter its hottest hours’.
Gianluca Di Marzio says the negotiations involving the two strikes have ‘come to life’. Juve are currently the only option left for the Belgium international and therefore, Mauricio Pochettino’s side have opened to the possibility of an exchange deal.
There’s no agreement between the two clubs despite the contacts on Monday. Chelsea also have to agree a deal with Vlahović.
The journalist says the ‘compromise’ could be found with the Premier League side offering their own player plus a fee of around €30-35m to sign the Serbian.
Di Marzio ends the report by stating: ‘It will go on in the coming days to continue on a road that has become almost obligatory for both clubs who have decided to continue this transfer market operation.’
