Inter Milan have overtaken AS Roma in the race to sign West Ham United striker Gianluca Scamacca.
Earlier claims from the Italian media indicated the Nerazzurri are expected to sign the striker before Thursday.
Sport Mediaset state that’s unlikely to happen and explain the situation around the Serie A side’s pursuit of the West Ham player.
The Italian club are in the market for a goalkeeper and a midfielder, and have identified Bayern Munich stopper Yann Sommer and Udinese’s Lazar Samardžić respectively as the targets.
It’s claimed Inter CEO Giuseppe Marotta and sporting director Piero Ausilio want to close the deals for both Sommer and Samardžić ‘by Saturday’ and then plan to sign a striker.
Scamacca has been picked as Inter’s main striker target and the report explain that the two parties have already initiated contact even without an official offer.
Although the Italian club are trying to acquire the 24-year-old’s signature, Sportmediaset say it seems easier the deal for the 24-year-old to ‘take off next week’ after completing Sommer and Samardžić’s signings.
The website adds a fee around €25m plus bonuses should be enough to convince West Ham to sanction the Italy international’s sale.
