Wout Weghorst has long wanted a move to the Premier League, and it’s no surprise to people in the Netherlands and Germany to see him on the verge of a switch to English football.

What has surprised many is that his destination is set to be Burnley.

Having been linked with the likes of Tottenham Hotspur previously, it was thought the striker would be aiming for a club higher up the table that the Lancashire side.

Indeed, such is the confusion in Germany, that Kicker, a major media outlet in the country, twice referred to Burnley as Barnsley in an article at the end of the week.

Anyway, Sky Deutschland are now reporting Weghorst will soon be on his way to Barnsley, sorry, Burnley, and ‘the deal is nearing completion’ with Wolfsburg.

Sky Deutschland say Friday reports that the player was spotted in Burnley were wide of the mark, yet fans should be able to get a glimpse of him soon, holding the club’s shirt and ready to save the Clarets from relegation.
