Porto are working on a move for Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos, although they are only willing to spend €12m on a deal.

That’s according to A Bola, who provide an update on the situation around the Colombian striker after reports of Porto’s interest over the last week or so.

Earlier today, we covered a report that stated Morelos is pushing for the move away from Ibrox, with his agent already in contact with Porto about the move.

A Bola pick up on that and say the Rangers star is a dream signing for Porto boss Sergio Conceição, who was ‘fascinated’ by him when the two sides met in the Champions League group stages last season.

It’s stated ‘the deal is at an advanced stage’, with the player ready to make the move to Portugal and join up with Colombian teammates Uribe and Luis Diaz.

Indeed, Morelos is ‘really enthusiastic’ about the switch and starting a new stage in his career.

Rangers, though, are playing hardball and are ‘trying to tighten the noose’ as much as possible to stop the move from happening.

They’re demanding between €17-20m for Morelos, a price that Porto cannot match.

Their limit is €10-12m.

A ‘game of patience’ is therefore needed for the Liga NOS side, who have the advantage of knowing that Morelos wants the move away from Rangers.

They’re willing to wait and bring Steven Gerrard’s side down to their asking price, having already made it clear to Morelos they’ll give him a five-year deal and a ‘significant increase’ in his salary.

The only thing missing from the deal is convincing Rangers to sell, which would suggest it is not as ‘advanced’ as the report would suggest.
