Even though Portuguese newspapers haven’t been giving coverage to a Tottenham Hotspur chase for Benfica’s strikers, there’s insistence from local TV that something is going on.

TVI24 comes up once again today saying the Premier League side have been interested in both Haris Seferovic and Carlos Vinícius.

Journalist Rui Pedro Braz reports that Spurs first went for the Swiss centre-forward. The initial attempt was made back in January, when Harry Kane got injured, and they offered about €15m for the move. That was turned down by Benfica.

Then Tottenham tried again at the start of the current window, this time on a loan deal, and his departure was once again blocked by the Eagles. It’s said that this time, they’d rather let him go on a permanent move.

Now Spurs are said to be more focused on the signing of Carlos Vinícius, yet that hasn’t been going very well either. It’s claimed that Daniel Levy doesn’t want to pay over €30m, and Benfica simply won’t let him go for that.

Rui Pedro Braz makes it clear that Tottenham are failing right now with their efforts to sign a Benfica striker this summer.
