Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is ‘particularly interested’ in signing Mathys Tel on a permanent basis this summer.
That’s according to SportBILD, who report that Bayern Munich are willing to negotiate with Tottenham on the €60m deal they agreed in the January transfer window.
Tel is currently on loan at Tottenham from Bayern and the deal includes a €60m option for Tottenham to make it permanent this summer. They’ve already paid a €10m loan fee to the German champions for the Frenchman.
Al indications have been that they have no intention of paying that €60m fee, with Tel having a mixed time at the club so far with three goals and one assist in 18 games.
SportBILD, though, report that Daniel Levy is particularly interested in signing Tel on a long-term basis despite his mixed performances to date.
That’s good news for Bayern, who very much want to sell and would be willing to renegotiate the €60m price if Tottenham are serious about it. Tel is currently valued at €40m.
It’s not clear what figure Tottenham would be willing to pay, but it seems Bayern are hoping Levy’s desire for a permanent transfer can get them a decent sum and the permanent deal they clearly want.
