AS love presenting Daniel Levy as a man Florentino Perez has nightmares about.

A lot of the time it feels somewhat exaggerated, but there’s likely some truth there with Tottenham as a whole.

There’s a reason the transfer vultures haven’t been circling Spurs for the past few seasons, turning heads and causing all kinds of problems with players and manager.

Levy being tough on transfers may have stopped some players moving to the club, but it’s certainly played a huge part in putting clubs off approaching Tottenham for their stars.

A couple of days ago AS published a story about an agent revealing a meeting with Levy in which the Spurs boss was furious about the idea of Real Madrid targeting Christian Eriksen.

In their Sunday edition, the Spanish newspaper say Madrid have now ‘retired’ from the race.

The club ‘will not enter a war’ with the Premier League side and will therefore ‘park’ any interest they have in Eriksen, despite his contract expiring in June 2020 and AS believing he doesn’t want to renew.

Eriksen was considered for ‘a figure between 56 and 84 million euros’, but now fears over Levy’s ‘inflexible stance’ have killed the idea.
