Rangers manager Danny Röhl is on the verge of seeing Danilo leave Ibrox, late in the winter market.
Three days ago, we covered claims from the Dutch press than NEC Nijmegen were lining up a surprise move to sign the Rangers player.
Earlier today, De Gelderlander reported the Eredivisie side are looking to improve their squad before Monday’s deadline.
The newspaper local to the Dutch club explained the Rangers man and Birmingham City’s Willum Willumsson are their top targets. The same source also explained negotiations are proving difficult.
That isn’t the case with Danilo any longer. Voetbal International bring breaking news on a big advance.
The Brazilian graduated from Ajax’s academy and had spells with their first team, FC Twente and Feyenoord. He left the latter and made a switch to Rangers in July 2023. He will leave Röhl’s side and return to the Netherlands to join NEC Nijmegen.
Rangers player ‘currently on his way’ for medical
VI state NEC Nijmegen had several names on their list for the attack, including Danilo. Initially, there were doubts whether the Dutch club could take him away from the Scottish club in this window.
These doubts were dispelled when the door opened for them to sign the Rangers man.
In fact, the report explain NEC Nijmegen are about to conclude the deal with Röhl’s side to sign the 26-year-old on loan with an option to buy. There’s no mention of the purchase figure.
The South American still needs to carry out medical tests and sign the contract to the complete the move. According to VI, Danilo is ‘currently on his way’ to the Netherlands for medical.
NEC Nijmegen should be able to secure his services in the next few hours or at the latest by this weekend, as long as there are no last-minute setbacks.
Danilo has managed four goals and two assists from 28 matches for Rangers this season.
