On Thursday morning, Portuguese newspaper Record shared a story claiming Crystal Palace are interested in signing Marcus Edwards from Sporting.
The article claimed the player should be available for €20-30m, but the problem for the Eagles is that he wouldn’t be that keen on a move to Selhurst Park.
With Crystal Palace’s interest making some noise in the Portuguese media, we now get to see some comments made on Mais Futebol.
Pundit Nuno Farinha makes it clear that Edwards ‘has the desire’ to return to England and prove himself in the Premier League. It’s said the player ‘never hid’ his will to do it.
Now what Crystal Palace should probably pay some attention to are the comments about Edwards being an inconsistent player, who could never stay on top form at Sporting, and had a disappointing second half of season.
In the Lions’ title winning campaign, Edwards had four goals and five assists in 26 league games.
The player is a product of Tottenham’s academy, and that’s why Spurs are often named as a likely destination. Crystal Palace may have a better chance than some in the Portuguese media think.
