Crystal Palace shoudn’t continue with their chase for Torino defender Perr Schuurs, according to reports from Italy.
Outlet Torino Granata today features a story claiming the Turin side are actually making a big effort to make as much as they can with the sale.
Schuurs had been pursued by several clubs, including Crystal Palace and Liverpool, with Premier League sides being well known in the market for spending large sums on signings.
The report then claims that Torino set a price of €40m for the sale, and that apparently discouraged the clubs who were interested in the transfer, since that’s ‘a bit too high’.
The website claims Crystal Palace and the other clubs in the battle have then ‘withdrawn’ from the race and now consider other players on their list.
What is interesting is that Torino were apparently interested in making the transfer, as they’re now set to turn to other clubs and see who could pay such a high fee for Schuurs.
That probably means that in case the big buyers don’t show up, then Crystal Palace could have a shot at a cheaper deal, but that wouldn’t happen so soon.
It had previously been claimed that the Eagles had offered €35m, so the prices don’t seem that far off, but it’s clear Roy Hodgson’s side aren’t willing to overpay for the Dutchman.
