AC Milan are ‘exploring the possibility’ of signing Jean-Philippe Mateta from Crystal Palace in the January transfer window.
That’s according to journalist Niccolò Ceccarini on Tuttomercatoweb. He reports that Milan are making enquiries about the French striker.
The Italian side are trying to push a move for a striker, with that very much a weak spot in the squad at present. Santiago Gimenez is also expected to leave at some point.
Milan are searching on several fronts for the right player to replace him. Crystal Palace star Mateta is the new name on the list.
His current deal expires in June 2027, and the striker is reportedly tempted by an experience in Serie A. Because of this, the Rossoneri are exploring the possibility of a move in the January transfer window.
Crystal palace, for their part, have ‘no intention’ of selling him. They’ll only consider a transfer if they were to receive a ‘truly high offer’ for their star striker. All indications are that any deal will be difficult for Milan to get done.
But Mateta is a name on their shortlist and initial questions are being asked, particularly because there’s a suggestion that Mateta would be tempted by a move to Italy.
