Paris-Saint Germain have been actively looking in the January transfer market to sign a forward to support Edinson Cavani.
While Chelsea’s Michy Batshuayi has been linked with a return to France, it now appears Christian Benteke is also on their radar.
According to L’Equipe, Paris-Saint Germain have revisited the possibility of signing Crystal Palace star Christian Benteke. However, L’Equipe contacted Benteke’s agent, Eris Kismet, who has dismissed the reports.
It’s been reported it’s very unlikely Crystal Palace’s owner, Steve Parish, would allow Benteke to leave only after six months, especially given the situation the club currently find themselves in.
The Eagles signed the Belgian from Liverpool in the summer, and selling him in the middle of the season wouldn’t make much sense.
Crystal Palace are currently just above the relegation zone, and they’d surely need the Belgian at least until the summer to stay in the top flight league. Benteke has a contract until 2020 at Crystal Palace, and has scored 8 goals for them this season in the Premier League.
The extra Palace earn from being in the Premier League far outweighs what they’d get from PSG, hence L’Equipe saying it’s ‘very difficult to imagine’ Parish entertaining the idea of a sale.
