Crystal Palace target Julian Draxler would ‘gladly accept’ his contract at Paris Saint Germain being terminated as he eyes up a move this summer.
That’s according to Le Parisien, who say the German could be available on a free transfer if he gets his wish granted.
Reports earlier today stated that Crystal Palace are eyeing up a deal for Draxler, who is on the list of player’s that PSG would happily move on before the end of the window.
The Eagles were believed to have been in contact with the player about a potential move and received a positive response, with him ‘excited’ about the possibility of a move to Selhurst Park.
It could be made easier, though, if Draxler were to be released from his contract. And that is a distinct possibility according to Le Parisien.
The newspaper reports that a termination of the final year of his deal is a ‘solution’ to the current situation that Draxler would ‘gladly accept’ were it offered to him.
He want to keep ‘control of his destiny’ and doesn’t want any problems to put in the way of potential destinations, which would include Crystal Palace.
In other words, he would prefer to be a free agent and do the negotiating himself rather than PSG potentially causing issues with their demands.
Being a free agent would also presumably leave him freer to discuss contract terms, with his current high wages already pointed out as a potential issue for Palace.
It’s a developing situation either way and something to keep an eye on, with Draxler one of those ‘closest to the exit’ and Crystal Palace very much in the mix.
