Crystal Palace have included VfL Wolfsburg’s Maxence Lacroix in their target list for this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The centre-back has less than a year left on his deal, and Kicker reported on Tuesday that he wants to leave the Bundesliga side in this window. That has forced them to look for his successor in the market.
This is backed up by L’Equipe, who claim the defender has informed the German club that he will not sign a new contract.
Therefore, Wolfsburg could allow the 24-year-old to change clubs and this would please Crystal Palace and other interested parties.
The Eagles are one of the clubs interested in signing the Frenchman and the report says they have ‘taken the lead’ in the transfer race.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner knows the player well from their time at Wolfsburg. In fact, it was during his tenure that the German club signed him from Sochaux in 2020.
L’Equipe claim the Premier League side have made an offer and started transfer talks, without making it clear if Crystal Palace sent a proposal to Wolfsburg, Lacroix or both.
Either way, Glasner’s side seem to be well positioned to sign Lacroix, who’s keen to leave Wolfsburg in this window.
