Turkey’s Star claim Crystal Palace have offered €12m to sign Josef de Souza from Fenerbahce, and the transfer could happen because of the Turkish side’s financial situation.
The Turkish giants are struggling to comply with FFP rules and they need to sell to balance the books, but also recruit before the deadline.
Fenerbahce were unable to register Berke Ozer and Ferdi Kadioglu to the UEFA list last week because of FFP, and the Turkish club may accept Crystal Palace’s offer.
Souza came very close to signing for West Bromwich Albion during the closing stages of the last summer transfer window and Watford have also been linked in recent weeks.
According to Star, Crystal Palace are the latest English club to show an interest and that they have a chance of signing the Brazilian.
Even though manager Phillip Cocu is keen to keep the player, the club’s hierarchy may be forced to sell as he has under 12 months left on his contract.
