According to a claim in the Turkish media, Crystal Palace have stepped up in their pursuit for Trabzonspor midfielder Batista Mendy, but face competition from Rennes.
The 24-year-old was a reported target for the Eagles during the last summer window and he’s continued to be linked with a move to Selhurst Park.
Gune Bakis have reported on the latest developments regarding Crystal Palace’s interest in the defensive midfielder and they say the English side have tabled an offer worth €12m.
It’s also claimed Rennes have made their move for Mendy and that they’ve made a bid in the region of €13m for the former Angers player.
The Turkish media outlet say at this stage Mendy is eyeing a return to France and talks are ongoing between Rennes and Trabzonspor.
However, it seems both Crystal Palace and Rennes will have to increase their offers, with reports Trabzonspor are looking for €15m. The Super Lig side purchased the Frenchman for €4.4m in 2023.
Mendy has started 17 league games this season and is contracted to Trabzonspor until June 2027, with the option for a year extension.
