Unlike the past few years, we could see some real action in the final days of this transfer window, and Crystal Palace are intent on being part of the fun.
That’s what L’Equipe are reporting on Tuesday, as the French newspaper claim the Eagles have set their sights on Paris Saint-Germain’s Hugo Ekitike.
It’s recalled that the Ligue 1 side would ideally like to include the 21-year-old in a deal for Randal Kolo Muani, but the player doesn’t seem overly keen on that.
That has opened the door for Crystal Palace, who have ‘started discussions’ with their French counterparts regarding a deal.
While the Eagles aren’t convinced enough to spend money up front on Ekitike, who didn’t have the best of seasons in a star-studded squad during the last campaign, they are willing to take a gamble on him.
That’s why Crystal Palace would like to see him arrive on a loan with an option to buy, and they have the advantage that the idea of going to England is one the player fancies.
This is all backed up by Le Parisien’s Marc Mechenoua, who took to Twitter to also report the approach from Selhurst Park, and then added that it was ‘first contact’ from them while the avenues taking Ekitike to West Ham or Milan ‘have largely cooled’.
The article on their website also states that an offer is expected to arrive ‘soon’.
