Crystal Palace suffered a 2-1 loss to RC Strasbourg in the UEFA Conference League on Thursday.

Tyrick Mitchell gave Crystal Palace the lead in the 35th minute, assisted by Jean-Philippe Mateta.

Emmanuel Emegha, who will move to Chelsea next summer, netted the equaliser in the 53rd minute. Samir El Mourabet scored Strasbourg’s second goal in the 77th minute and that proved to be the difference between the two sides.

Crystal Palace had 41% possession and two less shots on target than Strasbourg during their trip to France. L’Equipe have the ratings for yesterday’s match, and it doesn’t look pretty for some.

Mateta and Ismaïla Sarr were both rated 6/10 and that’s the highest for the Eagles. The next best was 5/10, given to Mitchell, Marc Guéhi and Jaydee Canvot.

The trio of Yeremy Pino, Jefferson Lerma and Dean Henderson were rated 4/10 while both Daniel Muñoz and Maxence Lacroix got 3/10.

Crystal Palace defeat sees complaints over Farmers’ League jabs

Crystal Palace player ratingsMarseille and Paris Saint-Germain beat Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League earlier this week.

RMC Sport are celebrating Strasbourg’s victory over Crystal Palace as a win for Ligue 1. This is mainly because the French league has been criticised on social media as a ‘Farmers’ League’.

RMC Sport states: ‘A 3/3 hailed as a slap in the face to the “Farmers’ League,” a mocking nickname given by English fans to Ligue 1 and its perceived inferior level. The incident has flooded social media since Thursday evening. This isn’t the first time France has celebrated these (rare) moments of joy against their arch-rivals, England.’
