In the last international break of 2018, Norway face Slovenia and Cyprus in the UEFA Nations League.

When Lars Lagerback announced the squad for the two fixtures, he didn’t include Crystal Palace forward Alexander Sorloth.

According to Dagbladet, the 22-year-old’s omission from the national team was the ‘biggest news’ today.

So far, he has three starts in the Carabao Cup and a goal to his name, while he is yet to make a start in the Premier League and has been restricted to eight substitute appearances with Roy Hodgson’s side.

The Norway manager included LA Galaxy striker Ola Kamara ahead of Sorloth in the squad for the upcoming two fixtures later this month and he also gave an explanation as to why the Crystal Palace player was not selected.

“We’ve seen what they [Kamara and Sorloth] have done before, especially at the national team,” Lagerback said, as relayed by football.no.

“Ola not so much, partly because it has been complicated with his match program. Alex has not had so much playing time and is not in absolute top form.”
