As most of us in Europe are occupied with Euro 2024, the Copa America is getting the attention across the Americas.
Being held in the US this year there’s been some annoyance about the kick-off times and even pitches being smaller than the normal standard.
There’s still some good football managing to break out, though, and Crystal Palace’s Daniel Muñoz’s is displaying some of it. The Colombia fullback has played in victories over Paraguay and Costa Rica, scoring an acrobatic goal against the former.
Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo highlight him in their Monday edition and say he ‘dreams’ of Barcelona. They call him the best fullback at the Copa America so far, and explain he’s a Blaugrana fan because of Ronaldinho.
There’s an insistence it’s his dream to play for the Camp Nou side, and a belief he could be available cheaply given his Transfermarkt value of €18m.
That’s quite obviously not how Crystal Palace do business, and whilst Muñoz may be attracting attention in Barcelona, for his performances and the claimed desire to play for them, the finances of this deal may well be beyond them this summer.
