Crystal Palace are going ‘on the offensive’ to secure a permanent deal for Aston Villa’s Evan Guessand this summer.
Africa Foot report that Guessand’s future could very well lie with Crystal Palace. He’s impressed the Eagle’s management, and they’re now pursuing a permanent deal.
Crystal Palace want Guessnd permanently
The website reports that Crystal Palace want to sign Evan Guessand on a permanent basis this summer. He joined on loan from Aston Villa in January and has made 12 appearances since, scoring two and assisting once.
According to Africa Foot’s exclusive information, a meeting recently took place among Crystal Palace club official to discuss the 24-year-old’s situation.
Following these discussion, the consensus reportedly leans strongly towards signing the forward on a permanent basis.
The feeling is that Guessand has gradually earned the trust of the coaching staff thanks to his performance and ‘commitment’ to the team effort.
His ‘athletic attributes, mobility, and ability to impose himself on opposing defences’ have reportedly won over Crystal Palace’s decision-makers.
The objective now is to reach an agreement with Aston Villa. In fact, they want to the deal done before the start of next season.
Crystal Palace negotiations
What the report doesn’t take into account is that Crystal Palace already have an option to buy included in the loan deal with Aston Villa.
It’s not clear if they intend to use that or negotiate a different deal. It would seem that the latter is on the cards at this moment in time.
There’s also no mention of Aston Villa’s asking price. But given that they paid €30m for Evan Guessand last summer, they will surely want to recoup as much of that back as possible. Whether Crystal Palace want to pay such a figure for Guessand remains to be seen.
The Eagles already spent big in the January transfer window, and perhaps they now want to negotiate Aston Villa down, or at least work out a more favourable deal.
