Crystal Palace are likely to lose Marc Guehi on a free transfer in the summer. The Eagles have been watching multiple replacement options, including Atalanta’s Odilon Kossounou.
The 24-year-old has been a regular for the Italian side this season and is receiving transfer attention. Kossounou has played 15 times in all competitions, featuring prominently in the last six league games.
TuttoAtalanta take a look at Crystal Palace’s interest in the Ivory Coast international, and their chances of a deal.
The outlet claim the London club are fans of Kossounou’s physicality and experience, and that this could lead to a formal approach in the next few weeks.
Atalanta’s stance is clear, though. There is ‘no room for discussion’ when it comes to the defender’s January exit.
The Bergamo club see the centre-back as a ‘defensive pillar’ and really rate his ability to score from set-pieces. New manager Raffaele Palladino believes the Ivorian is one of the most important players for his tactical setup.
The club’s plan is to strengthen their backline in January and they have no intention of making major sales.
Only a ‘indecent’ offer would see Crystal Palace land Kossounou, who may be happy to wait until the summer anyway.
Atalanta spent €20m to sign the player permanently from Bayer Leverkusen earlier this year, having seen him impress during a loan last season.
