Crystal Palace may have to wait to finalise the signing of Chadi Riad from Real Betis, because of Morocco’s international fixtures this month.
That’s according to Diario de Sevilla, who back up reports that the defender has passed his medicals with Crystal Palace this week.
The newspaper reports that the youngster travelled to London at the beginning of the week to undergo various medical tests with Crystal Palace ahead of a deal worth around €17.5m.
He has passed these tests already but is now waiting for his international commitments with Morocco in June to be done with before signing.
They play against Zambia on the 7th and then Congo on the 11th and once they are done with, he will sign a five-year deal at Crystal Palace.
Quite why he is waiting until that point to sign isn’t made clear, although the suggestion is there wasn’t enough time for Riad to complete his medicals and then work on that side of the deal to wrap things up before he had to head off to link up with Morocco.
Thus, Crystal Palace may need to wait to make things official, although the positive news is the medicals have been done and completed without any problems.
