Following a few weeks of rumours, it seems that former Reading striker Danny Loader is finally on his way to Portugal.

Newspaper O Jogo writes today that the player is ‘signed’ by Porto, and his move to the Dragons is now ‘certain’, despite the competition there was for him.

The outlet brings some interesting information on the race for Loader. They first claim that he’s agreed to a deal with the Dragons despite links with league rivals Sporting.

Then they say ‘Leeds United and Crystal Palace tried, West Ham and Manchester United were also spoken’, but the player decided to restart somewhere else.

Danny Loader is initially joining Porto’s youth ranks, but will be watched by the first team, and could soon have a chance among the big boys.

He believes that playing abroad will give him a bigger chance of getting to the top, and the case of Marcus Edwards at Vitória Guimarães is an example.

Loader became a free agent this summer following the end of his contract with Reading. Despite the excitement for his transfer, O Jogo says his deal should be no longer than two years.
