Crystal Palace are today named as a potential destination for Botafogo starlet Matheus Nascimento.
But that doesn’t mean the Selhurst Park side are about to make a bid for the striker, or anything like that.
The rumour has to do with the fact that John Textor is a shareholder at both clubs.
Matheus Nascimento has been doing great for Botafogo, and there’s been a big fear that he’d walk for free next year, since his contract expires in June.
However, as reported by TNT Sports, there’s already a verbal agreement for a renewal, and the parties are ‘close to a happy ending’.
So, how would he join Crystal Palace? Well, TNT Sports claims that it’s ‘not ruled out’ that despite signing the renewal, the player could end up moving on a loan to the other clubs managed by John Textor, and the Eagles are one of them.
Nascimento has seven goals for Botafogo this season, and for being only 18, his impact on the team is what made him a hyped player at the Rio de Janeiro side.
With Crystal Palace having privileged relationships with the club, that’s certainly a rumour to keep an eye on.
