While not as prolific as a lot of other youngsters out there, with just four goals in 24 league appearances this season, Christian Kouamé has still caught the eye of many scouts.
Juventus have been among those talked about, as have Roma for the post Edin Dzeko era, and now we’ve got Crystal Palace being thrown into the mix by Calciomercato.it.
According to the Italian website, the Eagles are among those interested in the 21-year-old, but Genoa, having already lost Krzysztof Piatek to Milan after just six months (for £31m) aren’t all that keen on losing Kouamé (who also arrived in the summer) half a season later.
Before they even consider discussing an exit, they will need to see a minimum of €25m land on their desk, which could be seen as a lot for a young striker who doesn’t find the back of the net all that regularly.
Perhaps that will change over the next few months now that Piatek is gone, but with five assists to complement his four goals, Kouame is also a creator and not simply a goalscorer like the Pole.
With Michy Batshuayi on a simple loan from Chelsea, Crystal Palace could end up needing another striker in the summer, although they do have Alexander Sørloth out on loan at Gent, who has two goals and two assists in his first six games there.
Kouame could simply be a name on their list for the time being, and there’s been no report of movement just yet from the Eagles’ end.
They’re just looking.
