Crystal Palace have now reached an agreement in principle with Pierre Sage as they look to make him Oliver Glasner’s replacement.
RMC Sport report that Sage is set to manage in the Premier League next season after reaching an agreement with the Eagles.
Crystal Palace agreement
According to the French outlet, Pierre Sage has an agreement in principle in place with Crystal Palace. They have also agreed on a free with the French side. They will pay an initial €3m for him, plus a potential €2m in bonuses.
That means the 47-year-old is now in line to replace Oliver Glasner at Selhurst Park. The Austrian announced earlier this year that he intended to leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season. He has stuck with that decision despite their Europa Conference League success.
Crystal Palace had initially targeted an ambitious move for Andoni Iraola, but he has instead joined Liverpool.
The Spaniard’s move to Anfield saw the Eagles pivot and target the French boss. He impressed at Lens last season, leading them to second in Ligue 1 and a Coup de France success.
He also impressed at Lyon previously, leading them to Europe after taking charge with them in relegation danger.
Quick exit talks
A report last week then explained he had told the French side he intended to leave last summer.
A following report on the fifth then stated the exit had been morally agreed and Crystal Palace talks were on the way.
They now appear to have been conducted and concluded successfully. Crystal Palace will pay up to €5m for the French coach, if they end up paying bonuses.
For now, it is €3m up front, with an agreement in place between all three parties and a deal now seemingly in the final stages for the French manager to replace Oliver Glasner this summer.
