Stories of Fonseca’s exit were pure speculation at the time since he was still under contract at Roma and had a Europa League semi-final against Manchester United to deal with, but with his side beaten 6-2 in the first leg and a disappointing Serie A campaign by their standards, the blow has been struck.
Crystal Palace could be one of those, as he’s already chatted with those in charge at Selhurst Park, but they could face competition.
Calciomercato.it report that Lyon, who appear to be losing patience with Rudi Garcia, are also keen on the Portuguese, adding themselves to both OGC Nice and AS Saint-Etienne on the list of Ligue 1 club to have reached out for his services.
Something to think about, and if true, it’ll be up to the Crystal Palace brass to be extra convincing, especially with Jean-Michel Aulas’ club capable of offering him European football.
