Crystal Palace have ‘expressed interest’ in Augsburg striker Ricardo Pepi but will need as much as €16m to secure his signature.
That’s according to SportBILD, who say Palace are one of three sides to have shown an interest in the 20-year-old.
Pepi joined Augsburg from Dallas in a €16m deal in January last year but struggled in the Bundesliga after his arrival so was sent out on loan to FC Groningen to continue his development.
He’s done well in the Netherlands, bagging 11 goals and three assists in 24 games so far, and establishing himself as a first-team star.
Crystal Palace can now be added to that list, with SportBILD stating that Augsburg are ‘willing’ to let Pepi leave at the end of the season if they can get the €16m they paid for him a year ago.
That tallies with a recent admittance from FC Augsburg sporting director Stefan Reuter, who made it clear they would be willing to sell if they received adequate offers.
It seems Crystal Palace are now one of those looking at making a bid, and have expressed their interest to the German side alongside the likes of PSV and Feyenoord.
