Crystal Palace have ‘expressed their interest’ in Genk forward Mike Trésor as they eye potential replacements for Wilfried Zaha.
That’s according to Het Laatste Nieuws, who say the 24-year-old may be ‘awaiting a transfer to a top league’ this summer.
With eight goals and 24 assists last season, Trésor was the absolute top performer at Genk, with those numbers earning him the Ebony Shoe, the Professional Footballer of the Year award and a call up for Belgium.
The Limburg club would like to keep him but realise that will be a ‘difficult task’ as the interest in him is growing considerably.
It’s been known for months that Vincent Kompany would like him at Burnley but at the moment it is Crystal Palace and Lille who are ‘in the market’ for him.
That interest has not resulted in a concrete offer as yet but both clubs have asked about the player and a possible transfer.
Crystal Palace are eyeing him as a potential replacement for Wilfried Zaha, who is yet to extend his contract at the club ahead of it expiring at the beginning of next month. He has a big offer to join the hordes of players heading to Saudi Arabia.
If he does depart it will leave a hole in the side that will need to be filled and Palace have identified Trésor as an option, although it will depend on whoever their manager is.
They will also need to stump up in terms of cash, with Genk likely to want close to the €25m they got for Sander Berge when selling him to Sheffield United in 2020.
Either way a deal is set to be a financial hit for them as they signed Tresor for just €3.5m in July 2021, a deal that has looked increasingly smart as the player has shone.
