Crystal Palace could soon abandon negotiations for Sidiki Chérif, as aggravation about his agent starts to build.
That’s according to RMC Sport. They report that Crystal Palace are growing tired of their pursuit of the Angers striker.
RMC explain that Crystal Palace have an agreement with the 19-year-old striker in place, but the negotiations for the move remain stalled.
There were swift negotiation between Crystal Palace and Angers initially. A move for a fee exceeding €20m seemed imminent. But since then, the deal has stalled completely.
Palace have stated that there is continued ‘interference’ in the deal from various English intermediaries. That is preventing any concrete progress from happening. They’re so frustrated by that, they’re starting to consider other attacking options.
They’ve even begun to test the waters with other forwards. Angers, for their part, are waiting for a second offer to arrive. Chérif is committed to the French team for the time being, despite his agreement with Crystal Palace.
The Eagles look likely to need a new striker this month. Jean-Philippe Mateta is pushing to leave, with Juventus and Aston Villa in the running. He’ll need to be replaced, particularly with Eddie Nketiah out injured as well.
It appears, though, that outside interference may mean Chérif is abandoned completely. Palace are certainly not happy with how negotiations are going so far.
