Crystal Palace will continue their efforts to sign Maxence Lacroix from Wolfsburg until deadline day.
That’s according to journalist Florian Plettenberg and Kicker, who both cover the player today as Crystal Palace push to sign him.
Plettenberg reports that Crystal Palace are holding ongoing negotiations with Wolfsburg for the defender, who is a favourite of Oliver Glasner. He’s their number one target at this moment in time.
Personal terms have already been agreed and Lacroix has made it clear to Wolfsburg he won’t extend his current deal, which expires in 2025. That may almost force them into a sale.
In the meantime, the defender appears unlikely to appear for Wolfsburg in their upcoming clash against Bayern Munich.
That’s according to Kicker, who report that the defender is ‘still shaky’ as he’s battling back from a ‘severe bruised foot’.
Manager Ralph Hassenhuttl has made it clear he thinks the defender won’t be available, while the club also deal with his transfer situation.
VfL boss Peter Christiansen recently opened the door a transfer, but Hassenhuttl has been less open, insisting that the player is staying when asked about it recently.
It seems he wants to revise that statement, though, with his latest comments hinting that he could be on the move.
“I already knew when I said the sentence that it wasn’t that smart,” he said.
“No matter which way this develops, Maxence will give everything as long as he is here. He is a complete professional. If he were to leave, we need alternatives.”
