Crystal Palace interest in the Chilean right-back Paulo Díaz has been a hot topic in South America for the past 24 hours.

It all started with Fox Sports reporting that River Plate are keen on signing the player, who currently plays for Saudi side Al Ahli.

The outlet added that Crystal Palace are also interested in him, and that’s considered to be bad news, since they would obviously have more financial power than the Buenos Aires side.

Then Palace’s chase has partially been confirmed by the player’s father, this time in a chat with the Chilean media.

Speaking to newspaper La Tercera, Ítalo Diaz has claimed that the Premier League interest is not something new.

“The English team came a few months ago. The idea is that everything goes slowly. There are more interested. While there is nothing concrete, we will not give names or anything.”

La Tercera includes that besides River Plate, other Brazilian and Mexican clubs are keen on signing the player. Fox Sports’ report claimed that he didn’t join Al Ahli’s squad for preseason, so a departure should be close.
