On Thursday, Crystal Palace were linked with a move for Juventus’ Tiago Djalo and now, it’s report they’re also keeping a close eye on another Bianconeri defender.

The player in question is Lloyd Kelly, who joined Juve on an initial loan deal from Newcastle United in January. The transfer was made permanent last week as part of an obligation clause in the original loan.

Crystal Palace may now bring the defender back to the Premier League, where he also played for Bournemouth.

TuttoSport, as relayed by IlBianconero, report Kelly could be on the market days after his move was made permanent, after failing to find his feet properly in Serie A. He’s been criticised for his performances, having struggled to impress under both Igor Tudor and Thiago Motta.

At times it’s felt like the Italian media have been going a little overboard with their criticism.

Crystal Palace are monitoring the versatile defender carefully and Juventus have identified Marseille’s Leo Balerdi as a potential replacement.

Juve paid €17.5m to sign Kelly permanently and considering their continual attempts to make capital gains, the Eagles will have to shell out a higher fee than that to land the 26-year-old.

It may be worth asking for a loan move.
