Brighton and Hove Albion’s Kaoru Mitoma and Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze are on Bayern Munich’s list as they quickly shift focus following the rejection from Florian Wirtz.

That’s according to BILD, who cover the situation around the midfielder today and what it means for Bayern’s transfer plans.

They explain that the German champions have been left in a state of shock by Wirtz’s decision to go to Liverpool instead of them.

They had been expecting to do a deal for Wirtz this summer and were confident it would take place but, after a secret meeting this week, the Bayer Leverkusen star has indicated he wants to join Liverpool instead. This is despite meeting with Bayern boss Vincent Kompany.

The decision has come as a complete surprise to those in charge at Bayern, who believed Wirtz wanted to stay in Germany given the conversations they had. They were certain they would get him, even for three or four years before he moved on.

Now they will quickly have to pivot their transfer plans and while other midfielders are being looked at, there is also a focus on wingers.

Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma is a candidate, with reports elsewhere in Germany yesterday saying the same. Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has also been mentioned at the club. He has the benefit of having previously played with Michael Olise at Selhurst Park.

Whether Bayern actually move for the Brighton or Crystal Palace stars remains to be seen, but it appears both are on the list, nonetheless.
