Crystal Palace and Brighton & Hove Albion are keen on Atlético Nacional youngster José Escorcia.
On April 27th, Sport Witness covered claims from South America that the 16-year-old has attracted interest from the Premier League duo.
The same source stated other unnamed clubs could challenge Crystal Palace and Brighton.
Two days later, we relayed news that the Seagulls are ahead of the Eagles and others in the transfer race. Fabian Hürzeler’s side are pushing harder to get closer to the winger’s camp.
Fresh Updates on Crystal Palace and Brighton
Deportes RCN now state José Escorcia’s future could be in the Premier League where both Crystal Palace and Brighton are keen.
The Colombia U17 international’s potential development so far would have convinced the two London clubs.
He represented his country at the U17 World Cup last November and starred at the U17 South American Championship in April.
Colombia won the latter after defeating Argentina in the final. Escorcia starred in this tournament, scoring four goals and contributing two assists and it includes a goal and an assist in the final.
Brighton have already set their sights on the attacker and would be close to sending an offer. Crystal Palace are also in the mix.
The two clubs would be submitting $3m bids, which comes around €2.5m. For now, that’s the expectation from Brighton and Oliver Glasner’s side.
A move to Selhurst Park would see the Colombian meet his compatriots, Daniel Muñoz and Jefferson Lerma. The duo could help Escorcia if he joins Crystal Palace. This would give them an edge over The Amex club.
Why clubs must wait
José Escorcia will turn 18 years of age in July 2027 and can’t move to the UK until then.
Therefore, Crystal Palace, Brighton & Hove Albion can’t bring him to England in the next window.
However, these clubs can agree a deal with Atlético Nacional for the youngster’s future transfer. Once he turns 18, the Colombian will then need to obtain a work permit to play in the UK.
